I am a Danish composer, pianist and music teacher who live in Copenhagen. I have been playing and performing with duos, trios, quartets and Big Bands since I was 20 years old. I have contributed with compositions to many off those groups. One off my Bigband compositions won a 1. Price.
I have also been presented as solopianist on the Copenhagen Jazz Festival and have performed many duo-concerts with american/danish flutist Chris Poole. We also played together in the jazz-ensemble Crystal Quintet, with Marilyn Mazur on drums.
I have released 4 CDs and a book with compositions, collaborating with saxophone player and singer Hanne Rømer. We met in Hexehyl Big Band in 1978 and continued as a duo. Since then we have developed a personal style, built on original compositions and jazz standards. Improvisation is an important part off the music, combining influence from European classical music with jazz in the broadest sense. The Nordic lyric tone is an obvious part of our “sound scape”. The duo has played concerts on e.g. TV, radio, museums, schools, clubs and festivals.
Over a period of 25 years we have released:
Akijava, 1990 (recorded at Rainbow Studios, Oslo)
Ametyst, 1994,
Between pain and joy, 2000,
Walking with the slow turtle, 2005,
Duo Compositions, 2013.
All titles is available on e.g. iTunes, Spotify, etc.
